Motivational Interviewing (MI)

This training is for Blueprint funded staff only.

This one-day, in-person training from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM is for Blueprint-funded Community Health Team staff and is available on four dates; please choose one.

5.5 CEUs approved for qualifying professions.

This training is an introduction to the evidence-based clinical method of Motivational Interviewing, an effective approach in the care of working in both clinical and non-clinical peer assisted support services.

This is an MI class that introduces individuals from both clinical and non-clinical perspectives to the spirit of MI as well as the tools and processes. Motivational Interviewing is defined as a particular way of talking with people about change and growth to strengthen their own motivation and commitment. This is a client-centered, evidence-based method for helping to resolve ambivalence. After orientation to the underlying spirit, structure, and principles of Motivational Interviewing, practical exercises will help participants strengthen empathy skills, recognize and elicit patient change talk, and roll with resistance.
