On Tuesday, April 12, 2016, the Vermont Blueprint for Health will host its Annual Conference at the Sheraton Hotel in Burlington, Vermont. This year's featured speakers will offer unique perspectives on the importance of integrating medical and social services in the healthcare delivery system. Elizabeth Bradley, PhD, MBA, co-author of The American Health Care Paradox: Why Spending More is Getting Us Less, will share her research underscoring the financial benefits of investing in the social determinants of health. Peter D. Donnelly, MD, MPH, MBA, FRCP, FFPH, will discuss his experience as Deputy Chief Medical Officer of Scotland and his approach to medical and social service integration as the President and CEO of Public Health Ontario. Bruce Goldberg, MD, Senior Fellow of the Center for Health Systems Effectiveness at Oregon Health and Science University and Former Director of the Oregon Health Authority, will provide insights gained through innovation in Oregon’s primary care practice settings. Claire Oatway, MBA, Chief Operating Officer of the Beacon Medical Group in Plymouth, United Kingdom, will offer her experiences promoting medical and social service integration at the local level in an area approximately the size of a Vermont Health Service Area (HSA).
